Comments:
This was a difficult and sad week with the loss of my good friends DL6RAI and
K7JA.
Some contest observations:
Propagation the first 24 hours was superior to the second day.
Good propagation during the first 8 hours on 20 15 and 10 kept the normal crowd
in EU and elsewhere from working 40 and 80.
Surprising openings on top three bands worldwide first night ...
Ten meters was open well from Aruba to EU both days from this part of the world
but most stations were on 15 meters.
15m was the money band this weekend.
20m was terrible much of the time from here ... noisy and difficult propagation
in any direction particularly in the 1300 to 1900 z time frame.
Difficult to maintain rate LP when bands are open so widely ... the normal
concentration of NA activity late afternoon on 20 and 15 was diminished with
US/EU path being so terrific.
