Comments:
Another great WPX-weekend behind us. Even though CONDX on 10m were lousy, I had
a great time - I think mainly due to better preparation and rest before the
contest. I'm pleasantly surprised by the result myself - I didn't expect to make
20% more QSOs than last year. And if someone had told me 20 years ago that with
100 W in a WPX contest, from an uninteresting DXCC in the middle of the EU, one
could make 2400 QSOs, I would have considered it nonsense. It's amazing how
activity in contests is growing, even though radio amateurs globally are rather
dying off.
The new Moxon 40MA2 for 40 m (35 m / 115 ft. high) has helped with the addition
of a second direction, however, so far it is not working as I expect and as the
model says it should - the manufacturer says it is much higher than originally
designed. Hopefully I can fine tune it with his help. I also added the great
ARCO rotator control unit with the ARXC.MAG magnetic sensor to the AD-3446 main
antenna, as the potentiometer in the DXC-2800 rotator started to go off - it
works great and I can rely on it to really point where I think it is pointing.
