Comments:
Had trouble getting mentally into this one since I knew that Friday night was
unavailable with non-radio activities. Had a little too much fun with the
"non-radio" stuff and thus couldn't stay awake to work what was
obviously a fantastic 20 meter band.
First day conditions were great, as many have noted. Rain static was a big
issue here on Saturday afternoon. Managed to work HA3NU on 10 meter Sporadic E
but then the rain QRN wiped out the band.
I had the skimmer feed coming in the entire contest, but I really don't know how
to use it so I don't think it was a big game changer.
The QRN was really awful on 40 meters each evening -- especially to the east. I
hardly even checked 80.
