Comments:
Strong thunderstorm pass directly over the remote site on Tuesday afternoon at
2:41 PM.
Lightning struck the site building flipping two 20 amp breakers in the main
breaker box. It destroyed the remote ip power controller, rotor controller and
main 13.8 volt power supply. It also took out the Lynksys router, wireless
internet antenna and monitor display board inside the HP desktop computer.
Luckily,the K-3 and KPA-500 were spared damage. Needless to say, repairs and
replacements are underway.
Operated from home QTH with a K-3 and multi band inverted-v up 30 ft supported
by a fiberglass mast on the back fence.
This challenge along with solar storm activity made for a fun 7 hours.
