Comments:

After Hurricane Ian demolished the 10M antenna and the only straight element was
the driven element which turned out to be dead, erected different DE at 19'.
First Q at 2033Z Saturday. Used IC-7300, AL-1500 driven softly to 1000W. Using
only the L hand after falling with tower which had no concrete at the base at a
take-down for a SK, and no spots, so just used F keys. Software couldn't handle
the exchange for an /MM, so a slight score adjustment.

It was refreshing to have the band open most of the time and WAS was pretty easy
(many tnx to those who got on). The end of the 19' antenna was aimed at the
power line noise that peaked to EU on 6M and appeared as part of the repair of
our 5+ day Ian outage. Understandably, the power co. has identified the noise
source (one of four), but not repaired it yet.

No big rate for this fresh meat, but steady until the last hour (1 Q in final 36
minutes). The new ARRL allowance of self-spotting was used about every 10
minutes.

Tnx for each and every QSO!

Back to 6M which has already shown life to ZL/VK from here 10-14 days ago and
enjoy the holidays.

vy 73, Dan
