Comments:

WE LOOK FORWARD TO THIS CONTEST EVERY YEAR FOR THE JOY IT BRINGS AND THIS YEAR
WAS NO EXCEPTION.

TWO WEEKS AGO WE RELOCATED OUR SOUTHERN BEVERAGE TO A QUIETER LOCATION AND
GREATLY EXTENDED IT’S LENGTH WHICH NOW PROVIDES US WITH VERY GOOD COVERAGE TO
THE SOUTH. THIS WEEK WE RELOCATED OUR EASTERN BEVERAGE TO A BETTER LOCATION AT
A MUCH GREATER DISTANCE FROM OUR TRANSMITTING ANTENNA AND GREATLY ADDED TO
IT’S LENGTH. WE USE OUR FIVE BEVERAGES ON 160, 80 AND 40 METERS. THE NEW
IMPROVED EASTERN BEVERAGE WAS THE ONLY ANTENNA WE COULD CLEARLY HEAR 7Q6M THIS
WEEKEND AS WELL AS OTHER AFRICAN STATIONS. WE BELIEVE WE HAVE FINALLY ACHIEVED
A USABLE BEVERAGE SYSTEM TO THE W, NW, NE, E, AND SOUTH. THE SYSTEM REWARDED
US THIS WEEKEND AFTER THE MANY HOURS OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PUT INTO IT.

PROPAGATION ON 160 SEEMED A LITTLE POOR FROM THIS QTH AND ACTIVITY WAS DOWN.
EVERYTHING WE HEARD WE WORKED. FRIDAY NIGHT WE HAD A REPETITIVE WARBLING SOUND
ON MOST OF 160 METERS. ANOTHER STATION TO THE SOUTH OF US USING A SOUTHERN
BEVERAGE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WE WONDER IF ANY OTHER STATIONS SOUTH OF THE
BALTIMORE AREA USING SOUTHERN BEVERAGES HEARD THE SIGNAL. IT WAS ALSO
HARMONICALLY ON 80 AND 40 BUT WITH LESS SIGNAL STRENGTH WITH INCREASE IN
FREQUENCY. SATURDAY NIGHT THE NOISE WAS GONE.

80 AND 40 PLAYED WELL BOTH NIGHTS BUT WAS A LITTLE SLOW. 20, 15 AND 10 WERE
OUTSTANDING DURING THE DAY. THE SKEWED PATH TO ASIA SATURDAY MORNING ON 15 WAS
A PLEASANT SURPRISE WITH JA’S, DU’S, HL2’S, ETC., CALLING US WHILE WE WERE
CQING TO EUROPE.

WE CHOSE MULTI MULTI CATEGORY SO WE COULD HAVE UNLIMITED BAND CHANGES AND RUN
THREE STATIONS AT NIGHT WITHOUT RESTRICTION IN ORDER TO MAKE AS MANY POINTS FOR
OUR CLUB AS POSSIBLE.

EVERY OPERATOR HAD A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE TO TALK ABOUT IN THIS CONTEST AND
EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT DO TO THE COOKING OF N3DPB
AND WA3EKL PLUS THEIR THREE GRANDDAUGHTER’S.

WE THANK EVERYONE WHO CAME BACK TO US. WE ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK THE
STATIONS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO QSO WITH ON MULTIPLE BANDS.

73 FROM THE CREW,

 N3DPB, KB3VQC, K0OO, WT3K, K3MTR, WV8BNM, K3MYI, WA3EKL
