Comments:

Rough without 15 and 10 and with summertime noise on 80 and 160. Good rates at
the start on 20 with a few loud stations on 15, but quickly gave up trying to
run 15 and went for the rate. One 10m Q with W6TA after a move from 15, but it
was very weak. The other 10m Q was local.

Took my times off early each time after the rate really slowed on 20, hoping it
would be better later. It's always a gamble, but this time it was a good
decision. I played lots of ping pong with the two radios, but was amazed how
long 40 took to open up (not until well after dark, although I did get some
good short 40m Qs earlier in the afternoon). I could hear people at first but
they weren't answering my CQs and had didn't hear me when I called. Finally,
almost like a switch, the band opened and I had my best rates of the contest on
40. 80 was really a struggle, and 160 virtually impossible.

Overall, I worked 727 unique stations .. way up from last year. I only worked
12 stations on 3 bands and none on 4 or more which probably says it all.

On a brighter note, I'm looking forward to running the Kansas QSO Party (both
CW and SSB) from 39 counties next weekend (Aug 28-29), so hope to put you all
in the log. I got lots of KSQP questions during the NAQP, so plenty of
interest. KSQP details at www.ksqsoparty.org and route details on my qrz.com
page.

See you all in Sprints!

73, Bob, w0bh
