Comments:

I believe it was W4MYA that said "I did better this year, but I'm not sure
why."

Well, I am the exact opposite. I did much worse this year, and I'm not sure
why.

Started out the first 3 hours slightly better than last year then the bottom
dropped out. Fell behind last year's pace and could never make it up. Even on
the second night when conditions were better to Europe just fell more behind
everyone else.

My operating time was cut short by the ice storm that was suppose to hit back
home. I slept 3 hours Saturday night after EU sunrise so I could leave about 8
AM to start the drive back. Glad I did. I hit snow about 15 miles into NC and
by the time that I got to Rocky Mount, NC it was starting to really
accumulate.
When I got to the edge of Raleigh about 30 miles from my house, the traffic
ground to a halt. The last 30 miles took almost 2 hours.

Also if I do this contest next year at K4JA, I will have to seriously consider
staying until the end so I can get on for the last 2-3 hours and eek out a few
more QSOs.

Anyway, thanks again to Paul for hosting me at his FB station. I just wish I
could have done a better job this year.

On a side note, I did do fairly well on States / Provinces. Only missed VE4,
VE5, VO2, VE8, and VY1. Also had VK6HD call me, but I missed ZL (I heard one
but he was too weak at the time and I never heard him again) and A61AJ (I never
found him). I did hear the JA5 that W4ZV worked (in fact we were both calling
him for bit) but I gave up when I couldn't hear him well enough anymore. I am
glad that you got him, Bill!

73, Jim K4MA
