Equipment Description: Yaesu FT-1000mp, Alpha 87a,

Club Affiliation: Yankee Clipper Contest Club

Comments: The Hi bands were phenomenal! 10 meters almost sounded at though I
was operating from the left coast. There seemed to be an endless amount of
JA's and other Asian stations. This single op stuff is not my favorite mode
but stayed in the chair for all 39 hours as a little 5 hour nap was needed
on Saturday night.

Highlights: Having 7 hours in a row at over 100 p/hour. I was at just over
2300 q's in the first 24 hours. As they say come like a bull leave like a
sheep!

Lowlights: PacketCluster network died Sunday morning in the middle of 150
plus 10 meter hour. I had to respond to the numerous talk messages coming
into the node here. Seemed like there was some internet backhoe fade to New
England. Spent most of the day with only 5 or 6 nodes here. Sorry to the
guys connected to this part of the network. Have to find a better antenna
system for 15 meters as this band hasn't preformed well over last 3
contests.

Fun stuff: Aside from the huge JA presence this weekend It seemed to me that
alot of YL's were active. YL's meaning women, of course. Maybe its that YL
contest column bringing them out. Why do so many stations forget to ID? Many
times this weekend I heard a guy work five or so guys and just continue to
call QRZ. After waiting for few guys to work a station I just started to
call cause after all I still needed QRZ in my log. So the guy comes back
N2TX your a dupe! I said no I'm not and I said your call is QRZ right? come
on a quick N2TX contest after an exchange is pretty easy to do after a few
q's.

Congrats to all the guys with the insane numbers!

73 Mike
