My AL-1500 burned up its bandswitch a couple of weeks ago. New switch
arrived, but no time to install. Neighbor Frank, W4FMS came to the
rescue with his Drake L4B. To be sure not to let the smoke out, I drove
it with only 50W for 600W output. But I was still able to make my goal
of beating last year's score with less than half the power. This due
to incredible conditions on 15 & 20, both open 24 hours. Usual summer
static severely limited results on the low bands, but no thunderstorms
occurred to shut me down. Fun contest!
