Comments:

Its great to see the solar flux back above 100 again! The last couple
years were an absolute bust due to the lack of propagation. Kudos to Paul,
K7PN, for doing a superb job on Thursday, Oct. 22, replacing a rotor in
the crank-up tower and replacing a damaged indicator pot in the top 40m
antennas ringrotor. One of the best pre-contest equipment additions was a
TimeWave DSP-59Y filter (installs in the Yaesu SP-5 speaker). It made the
difference between copying and not copying several stations.

I heard a total of 36 zones (no 18, 37, 34 or 39) and figure somewhere
around 115 countries. Conditions were very flaky into northern and central
Europe. This will improve once the SFI goes above 150 for a while.

A few High and not so highlights:

JW5NM called me during a JA run
4S7BRG called me during a JA run (rare to work zone 22) Great double mult!
Working CN8WW with 25 seconds to go! (A close call) :-)
Much higher activity from BY stations

Heard two zone 2 stations mult hunting but never listened up
Heard a zone 23 station working a UA3 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon local time
