This is a great contest. 20 died early. While 40 was super hot, I
went to 80 and picked up some VE2 and VE1 stations. Made 109 QSO's the
first night. I went to bed around 1:30 A.M. I set the alarm for 8:30 A.M.
the next morning. I woke up and made the alarm clock shut up for a while.
Needless to say, I was pretty mad when I woke up at 11 A.M....Talk about a
major oversleeper.
Stayed 20 for the first 45 minutes after I got up. Then went to 15.
I worked 12 stations on there before dad told me to get on 20 because I had
messed up the telephones and they weren't getting any dial tone. I stayed
on 20 a long time before I went to phone. I had my run frequency 23 minutes
when somebody told me that I was QRMing them. Seems to me that they could
have let me know a little earlier. Since I wasn't exactly looking for an
argument, I moved on down the band. Had some pretty good hours on 14.150.4
MHz. Went to 40 at 22:59, to pick up a few multipliers and have a 24 hour.
I wonder where Yukon was on phone? Jay, VY1JA, answered a CQ on 20
CW. He sure wasn't loud; about 539 or so.
I got lucky enough to get 3 VE8 stations to answer my CQ's.
Unusual contacts: EI8, VK4, OH9, 4 VO1's.
Best Hour: 20z, 54.
Low point of contest: Hearing VY2RAC 59+10 on 3.774.5, and he couldn't hear me.
Friday night sure was tough on 80. I had local S9+30DB QRN + some QRM. It
is tough to find a clear spot on 80. You seem to always be messing up a net
or something. I was very lucky to have so many VE's stick with me on 80
Saturday night. A special thanks goes to the 39 VE's that I worked Saturday
night.
So...here is the bottom line.
354 Q's 54 Mults, 146,664 pts.
73 and CU next year,
